We’ve Got Your Back Continues to Provide for Orange County Children with Food Insecurity

Giving Children Hope’s Orange County based food distribution program, “We’ve Got Your Back,” held a very special toy drive this Christmas season!

Giving Children Hope is an annual partner of “Toys for Tots,“ housing thousands of toys at their Distribution Center in Buena Park, CA, and serving as a pick-up point for agencies in need of toys. The spirit of providing toys for children who are less fortunate during this holiday season was inspiration for the “We’ve Got Your Back“ Toy Drive, which allowed members of the community to sponsor an individual child, receiving their name, age, and special “wish list.“

“We’ve Got Your Back” is a program which provides backpacks of food for local elementary school children who have been identified as having food insecurity. Each child on the program is enrolled in a “Nutrition Club,“ which equips them with training on healthy eating and wellness. Each Friday, a backpack of food is taken home and returned on the following Monday. As most of these children rely on school lunches as their only meals of the day, “We’ve Got Your Back” picks up where the school days leave off.

Elizabeth Saldaña, Program Coordinator for “We’ve Got Your Back,” has been busy distributing toys to the children on the backpack program, as well as their siblings! Elizabeth was particularly touched as she delivered some toys directly to children’s homes and saw that they were the first toys to be set under the tree.
