Giving Children Hope’s very first walk-a-thon, Walking with Hope, helped raise $12,000 for the hungry children of Orange County!

Thank you to all those who participated in the walk to make this a successful one! People walking, endured the heat, and had the opportunity to eat delicious food and enjoy entertainment from magicians to musicians.

All proceeds of the event go toward Giving Children Hope’s “We’ve Got Your Back” program. “We’ve Got Your Back” is a local Giving Children Hope program which provides backpacks full of nutritious food for Orange County children that have been identified as having food insecurity. Elementary school students who are reliant upon free or reduced lunch programs for consistent meals are enrolled in a Nutrition Club and learn about healthy diet and wellness in addition to taking home well-balanced meals to sustain them over their weekends.

Sponsoring a Child

Sponsoring a child or a classroom, is a way in which one can get involved in giving a local child hope. For $240 per year, one child can have the security of receiving a backpack filled with food at the end of each week.

Get Involved in “We’ve Got Your Back”

• Make a monetary contribution to help support the Backpack Program

• Talk to your school, church, and/or service club to see if they would like to sponsor a classroom in Orange County to be enrolled in the Backpack Program

• Volunteer at Giving Children Hope packing backpacks, sorting food, and/or writing notes to children enrolled in the program. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 714-523-4454 x. 130 for more information.
