Our partners on the ground are already responding. Donate today to send disaster relief to those who have been displaced.
Giving Children Hope’s President CEO, John Ditty, recently returned from Indonesia. After the Tsunami, Ditty traveled to Indonesia to assess the damage and speak with partners to determine the greatest needs. Ditty visited villages to distribute medical supplies for a local clinic and brought household products for needy members of the community. “The power of prayer is what helped us get things done,” Ditty said about distributing aid to families in need. Two hundred family packs that contained important cooking equipment were distributed to families affected by the disaster at Mentawai Islands. While it rained all around, the team prayed for sunshine, just long enough to travel to the islands and distribute the aid. God faithfully answered their prayers: it continued to rain all around them except at Mentawai. Families also received shoes and sandals. Two suitcases of medicines were sent to people who were affected by the volcano eruption.

As reported by the Associated Press:
“Eruptions at Indonesia’s deadly volcano appeared to be intensifying Thursday as towering clouds of ash shot from the crater with a thunder-like roar, dusting towns up to 150 miles away and forcing motorists to switch on their headlights during the day.
The death toll climbed to 96 — with six more casualties recorded in the last 24 hours — and the government repeated orders to airlines to stay clear of the unpredictable mountain.” Read full story here
