Tom Davis

Tom grew up in Boston, the son of a minister. He attended Westmont College and graduated with a B.S. in Biology with an emphasis on pre-med. In his freshman year he was gripped by his deep need for God and committed his life to follow Jesus Christ as Lord. Having applied to med schools, Tom went on a missions trip for a year to Equatorial Guinea and his life direction changed. Seeing the deep foundational needs of people in that developing country, it seemed to Tom that medical help would benefit, but only temporarily. He felt persuaded that Jesus Christ and the spiritual transformation He brings would be a greater resource and sought from that day forward to guide others into lasting relationship with Him.

Toward that end, Tom went to Asbury Theological Seminary and graduated from there in 1998 with an Mdiv. He accepted an appointment to pastor the Free Methodist Church in Placentia, CA that same year and was ordained an elder in the Free Methodist Church of Southern California in 2002. In 2003, Tom’s good friend, Susan Bransford, became his wife. Susan is the daughter of missionaries who still serve in Kijabe, Kenya. She is, even more so now, Tom’s best friend and loving partner in life and ministry. Tom and Susan have two children now: Kara Jael, who was born in June 2006 and Calvin Bond, who was born in November of 2007. In December 2007, Tom finished his role as pastor and recovery ministry overseer. Tom came on staff at Giving Children Hope that same month as a part-time driver. Though uncertain about what the future holds for him and his family, he is confident in God’s direction and is seeking Him for guidance.
