Giving Children Hope Prepares for Thanksgiving in Louisiana

(2005-11-14) Students at Lutheran High School (LHS) in Orange are filling 500 “Boxes of Hope” with non-perishable food items to be distributed to families participating in the feeding program. 45 students are leaving this Friday and will spend the days before Thanksgiving rehabilitating damaged homes in the 9th Ward. Using their Kenner clean-up experience, the LHS team will re-roof homes, pull dry-wall, and haul debris.

GCH President John Ditty, with his two sons Jonathan and Josiah, will make his fourth trip to the Gulf Coast, leaving this Thursday for Louisiana. He will spend the weekend in Lake Charles, Louisiana, assisting Vineyard church with a Thanksgiving feeding before continuing on to New Orleans to work with LHS in the 9th Ward.

Two truckloads of product, including one from GCH headquarters in Buena Park and one from Ohio will leave tomorrow for the Baton Rouge distribution center. Both trucks contain food items for the Thanksgiving feeding centers and the one leaving from Buena Park also includes clothing donated by Quicksilver.
