Burundi, one of the smallest countries in Africa, has suffered from food insecurity and poverty for more than 40 years since gaining its independence from Belgium.
Burundi has a great history of ethnic unrest that has left the country’s infrastructure severely damaged. Families often do not have the means to provide for their children, resulting in some of the highest rates of infant and child mortality in the world.
Giving Children Hope is partnering with World Vision to further their efforts in providing health to Burundi. World Vision has provided access to clinics, food and emergency aid for more than 30 years. With medical supplies from Giving Children Hope, World Vision will bring healthcare to the Burundi people through mobile medical clinics, orphanages, schools and health clinics.
