Second Shipment in Tansit to Valley View University

GCH partners with Students in Free Enterprise at La Sierra University to increase computer literacy in Ghana

La Sierra University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team partners with Global Operations and Development (GO&D) to increase computer literacy in Ghana.

Right now the second container from the partnership between La Sierra University and Global Operations and Development is in transit to Valley View University close to Accra, Ghana. The container has 275 computers, monitors, network switches and other equipment. The computers will be used for several pilot programs designed to empower the people of Ghana to benefit from the global opportunities that come with computer literacy and networking with the world. Among the programs are training in the basic computer skills for area residences and Valley View students. Part of the training will include helping persons learn how to market the skills they have learned to give them tangible benefits for their lives. Valley View University is also piloting programs where computers will be donated to area primary and secondary schools. The computers will be periodically maintained by Valley View students to assure effective use of the computers by the schools. Many of the primary students had never even seen a computer. Now they will be able to gain valuable life skills early. SIFE is planning to start a presence at Valley View this year to assist with these programs and other training in micro business.

The partnership with Valley View University provides many exciting opportunities to serve effectively in Ghana. Our vision is that all peoples should be able to share in the blessings that we often take for granted. If you would like to be part of it or contribute to specific projects, please contact Marvin Payne, La Sierra University. Marvin is on the Board of Directors for GO&D. (mpayne@lasierra.edu).
