Return to New Orleans

GCH Team, Including 15 Orange Lutheran High Students, Return to New Orleans

On October 18th, 2007, John Ditty, co-founder and CEO of Giving Children Hope, and Mark Maietta, Missions Director at Orange Lutheran High School, will travel with 15 high school students to New Orleans on a 10-day trip of repair and restoration. GCH teams have returned frequently to Louisiana since our primary relief effort in New Orleans almost 3 years ago. During their stay, the team will work to makes dreams of former New Orleans residents come true. By hanging drywall, taping, and painting, houses will once again become homes. Working directly with families and children who have been living in transition for years, and making a direct difference in their lives, is an experience students at Lutheran High will not soon forget. Josiah Ditty, son of John Ditty, is 16 years old and this will be his fourth trip to New Orleans. “These trips to New Orleans change these students’ lives now and forever,” says Mark Maietta. “It truly changes their perspective on their own lives and how they can affect the world.”

Giving Children Hope is preparing for a container of food that will ship from our Distribution Center down to New Orleans around the Thanksgiving Holiday. To learn more about how you can participate or contribute, please call our offices at 714-523-4454.
