Rejecting Apathy
In the last weeks we have taken to the phrase of rejecting or fighting “apathy”. Webster defines apathy as “a lack of feeling, interest or concern”. We’re trying to get a new program up and running, that of Cause Ambassadors, and our description of this program essentially defines what we are looking for as finding individuals to help fight apathy and get out and do something and advocate for the voiceless.
Relevant Magazine is currently running a piece entitled: Reject Apathy. They are looking for YOU to participate. Here’s what they write:
The debut issue of our new social justice magazine, Reject Apathy, goes to the printer next week. (Yes, all RELEVANT subscribers will get it for free.) In it, we have a section spotlighting ways our readers are rejecting apathy in their lives—living outwardly, intentionally and reaching those around them. Whether it’s local service projects you do with your friends, or ways you’ve served around the world, we’d love to hear from you. Answer the question, “How are you rejecting apathy?” in 100 words or less, and email it to: roxanne@relevantmediagroup.com. If you have pictures, send those too. If your story is selected for the magazine, we’ll send you an exclusive Reject Apathy shirt …
If you decide to participate in their campaign, I’d also love to hear what you are doing to make a difference. So copy me in on the email too at jsteverding@godaid.org. I won’t send you a shirt, but I might feature your story in my blog.
Whatever you are involved in, I just hope that somewhere in your life you are rejecting indifference and apathy and in the words of Switchfoot, “this is your life, are you who you want to be?”
