Myanmar Cyclone Nargis Relief

As of Thursday, there is an estimated death toll of 80,000 and more than a million people without food and water after Cyclone Nargis hit the Southeast Asian nation, also known as Burma, early Saturday. According to state radio, this is the country’s deadliest storm on record.

Giving Children Hope is working diligently to gain access to Myanmar to start bringing aid to the devastasted region. While the Myanmar government is reluctant to accept outside aid, Giving Children Hope’s partner from Taft Church in Orange, CA had a pre-planned trip and VISA before the cyclone hit and was able to hand carry in water purification tablets. Giving Children Hope is awaiting word to send the air shipment of much needed medicines to the region.
