Giving Children Hope wants to send pharmaceuticals to mobile clinics in Uganda. The ailments that are treated at the clinic include malaria, parasites/worms, malnutrition/dehydration, fungal infection of the skin, ulcers and G.I. disorders. Medical services include wound care, treatment of local infections, and treatment and prevention of dehydration.
The mobile clinics travel to villages and IDP (Internally Displaced Peoples) camps surrounding the city of Gulu. Children are will primarily be served along with men and women.
The people in the communities being served have been displaced from their villages and homes due to civil war. They live in close quarters in huts throughout IDP camps. They have to travel very far to get any type of access to medical care. The hospitals that are in the city have limited medications and equipment and may be hours away.
