Korean Community Services is planning to open and operate a free medical clinic for uninsured and low-income Korean Americans and other populations of North Orange County. According to the US Census, Orange County has the largest Korean population of any county in the nation. As of 2005, 33.3 percent of the Korean American population was uninsured and has recently increased.
Giving Children Hope will be providing a variety of equipment to assist in the opening of the KC Services clinic, including a Blood Pressure Monitor, Defibrillator, Exam and Surgery Instrument Tables and more. The clinic will serve approximately 60 patients per month.
KC Services is a community based nonprofit organization with a broad range of health and community services to provide free medical care to assist and empower Korean American individuals, families and the greater immigrant community.
Korean Community Services received equipment from Giving Children Hope last month and began treating patients in its new community clinic. GCHope President & CEO, John Ditty, along with Nonprofit Manager, Sean Lawrence, visited the KC Services clinic this week to see the supplies and equipment in action.
