Past Shipments:

  • Deliver a shipment to Cameroon
  • Life-saving pharmaceuticals to be shipped to Cameroon

Giving Children Hope shipped a 40 foot container to the country of Cameroon in West Africa. GCH partnered with Cameroonian Pastor Andre Talla from the African Academy of Christian Leadership to establish the project.

Half of the container is filled with basic medical equipment, supplies and medicines and will be located in a rural village to serve those without access to health care. The additional space in the container was filled with bikes, which are basic transportation and a form of economic development, as well as bakery equipment. A bakery is being established in the city of Douala- the largest city in Cameroon. The proceeds from the bakery fund the day to day operations of the medical clinic providing for two sustainable projects.

Cameroon has a young population with an estimated 41.2% under 15, and 96.7% are under 65. Transport in Cameroon is often difficult. Roads are poorly maintained and subject to inclement weather, since only 10% of the roadways are tarred. The quality of health care is generally low. Outside the major cities, facilities are often dirty and poorly equipped. Endemic diseases include dengue fever, filariasis, leishmaniasis, malaria, meningitis, schistosomiasis, and sleeping sickness.

The arrival of this container which includes transportation, economic development and healthcare development is a form of HOPE. Thank you for your participation in delivering hope to the communities of Cameroon!

GCH Ships Pharmaceuticals to Cameroon

Giving Children Hope, in partnership with Union Rescue Mission and Africa Academy of Christian Leadership, has sent two packages of life-saving pharmaceuticals. One shipment will arrive at the Association Chretienne Inter-denominationelle du Cameroun clinic and the other shipment will arrive at the Foundation Westing de Bameka clinic.

The Association Chretienne Inter-denominationelle du Cameroun clinic serves approximately 5,000 people and the Foundation Westing de Bameka clinic serves about 1,500 people. Both clinics treat food and waterborne disease, vector born disease, respiratory disease and animal contact diseases.

Giving Children Hope is partnering with other organizations, churches, and indigenous persons to deliver shipments of pharmaceuticals, which include de-worming and anti-malarial medication valued at $500,000, to clinics and hospitals in developing countries. Giving Children Hope launched its new pharmaceutical program in January 2008.

Community Rallies Around "Bikes for Cameroon"

Giving Children Hope has received a wonderful response from the local community in the form of bicycles!

Closely following articles in the Orange County Register and the Buena Park Independent publicizing our Bicycles for Cameroon Drive, we began receiving monetary donations, new and used bicycles delivered to our distribution center, and requests for pick-ups!

Donated bicycles will be included in the 40 foot container of supplies and equipment that will leave our distribution center for Cameroon the last week of October, 2007. Monetary donations will fund the purchase of bicycles in country which serves to not only provide bicycles to those in need, but to stimulate the local economy.

We extend a sincere thank you to those who have shown their support of this project and encourage others to get involved while there is still time!

To schedule a pick-up or to receive more information on Bicycles for Cameroon, please call us at 714-523-4454.

Donated bicycles and monetary donations can be directed to Giving Children Hope, 8332 Commonwealth Avenue, Buena Park, CA 90621.
