Early Wednesday at 1:23 a.m. local time, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan. According to reports from the field, the intensity of the quake was felt from Dubai to Delhi. Initial reports indicate the depth of the quake to be 10 km (6.2 miles); however, damage and casualty updates are not currently available.
Giving Children Hope is in communication with partners on the field to assess the greatest needs at this time. Disaster relief aid will be sent to the affected regions as needed.

Sunday morning, another earthquake occurred in the Northern regions of Pakistan. This quake, measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale, lasted approximately 10 seconds, and caused minimal damage according to immediate reports. Severe tremors are reported to be felt in nearby regions but no casualties have been discovered.

As Pakistani officials continue to assess the damages of the major 7.4 earthquake, preliminary damage reports are in. The epicenter of the earthquake was near a sparsely-populated region of Pakistan.
Approximately 200 mud dwellings have been damaged in areas near the epicenter according to Associated Press. Other minor damages have been recorded, but no immediate emergency assistance has been requested thus far.
U.S. officials reported the military base in southwestern Afghanistan felt the tremors of the quake but no injuries or damage occurred.
