Longezia Mobile Medical Clinic provides primary health services, pre- and post-natal care, well-baby care, infectious disease treatment, first aid and nutrition counseling. Treating up to 1,000 patients per month, most of which are women and children, Longezia Mobile Medical Clinic staff most often find themselves caring for patients with malaria, eye conditions, wounds, diabetes, and degenerative bone disease (caused by malnutrition).
The region of Zambia that is served by the mobile clinic is very isolated due to location and lack of infrastructure. The capital of Lusaka is the closest city and is five hours away; the entire trip spanning over dirt roads. Due to the distance and isolation of Sinazongwe, there is very little government support for the residents. The people belong to Tonga tribe and are immersed in witchcraft. They have been particularly receptive to the aid offered by the mobile clinic. There is a complete lack of businesses or natural resources for the Sinazongwe people to benefit from.
