Life in Liberia is not easy. The country has been hard hit by the AIDS pandemic and endured two decades of civil wars and unrest, which has left countless dead and over 13 million children orphaned. During this time, many children were forced to be child soldiers and had no hope of ever receiving an education.
Now, Liberia is seeking to rebuild their country and their hope. But, there are still countless orphans who have no one to count on. Many orphanages have more orphans than they can adequately care for, and many non-profit organizations have stepped in to help them out. We want to send 2,500 backpacks filled in time for Christmas.
A container filled with backpacks and school supplies left the Giving Children Hope facility today. This container will travel to Monrovia, Liberia and meet with partners at Containers of Hope. These backpacks and school supplies will benefit the children in the local communities, allowing them the opportunity to be fully equipped with all the necessary tools to receive a quality education.
Thank you to everyone who made this shipment possible!
Giving Children Hope just received a report from Containers of Hope that the shipment was distributed to local communities on April 19!
Take a look at their wonderful thank you letter and photos from the field!
Giving Children Hope has sent a 40 foot container filled with 2,500 backpacks, nutritional supplements, medical and clinical supplies, bedding and blankets as well as sewing machines and cloth for sewing projects and many other needed and requested items to these orphans in Liberia. The backpacks are filled with toys, books, school supplies, hygiene items, candy, and other goodies. Schools and churches and community service clubs all came together to hold toy drives and volunteer in the warehouse to help meet the needs of these orphans. These children deserve all the happiness in the world for what they have been through, and we are blessed to be able to give them a piece of God’s love with this special gift.
In addition, a team from GCH will travel to meet the container in Liberia and supervise the distribution of Christmas joy.
