The effects of HIV/AIDS in Zambia has led many parents dying, leaving many children orphaned in the community who are unable to take care of themselves, forcing many to stop attending school.
This often leads to children getting involved in casual sex, early marriages and child labor in order to have money for food. Most of these are children living in adverse poverty and are sexually, emotionally and physically abused and are unable to advance their education.
Job loss, increase in poverty levels, increase instances of HIV/AIDS, high mortality rates and an increase in the number of orphans and child-headed households represent the communities of Kawama, Mpatahills, Nkulumashiba, Chisokone, Kalende, Kamishishi, Miputu, and Kampelembe.
Giving Children Hope is partnering with Mpatamatu Home Based Care Clinic to serve these communities with healthcare and medical attention.
