Giving Children Hope’s Gift-In-Kind program helps to support neighboring nonprofit agencies

One of the many ways in which Giving Children Hope (GCH) reaches out to the community is through our “Giving for Living” program.

GCH is the central distributor for Gifts in Kind International, an organization that enables non-profits to receive products and resources from major retail stores. Bi-monthly, GCH makes products from GIK donors including Bed, Bath & Beyond, The Disney Store, Office Depot, Ross, The Avenue, and Amerisource Bergen available to dozens of local non-profits and churches. Held at GCH’s Buena Park Distribution Center, participating agencies receive needed resources such as household supplies, furniture, office/educational supplies, toys, over the counter medicines (OTC), hygiene products, food, and clothing, that facilitate their ability to effectively serve their communities. GCH makes OTC medicines and vitamins, hygiene products, and non-perishable food items available at all times through the “Mission Store.” Stocked with donated supplies from GIK contributors, the “Mission Store” is open during GCH’s normal operating hours and is frequented by non-profit agencies, churches, missionaries, and individuals participating in missions trips. Through these vital Gifts-in-Kind services, GCH makes it possible for area non-profits to receive valuable items from major retail stores, increasing the quality and effectiveness of local and international program work.
