PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
BUENA PARK, Calif. (December 20, 2007)- Giving Children Hope will ship a 20 foot container of aid and supplies to an orphanage in Cusco, Peru on Friday, December 21, 2007. Giving Children Hope’s Distribution Center staff will begin packing the container at 10 AM in preparation for a 12 PM shipment.
Giving Children Hope was one of the first responders in Peru following the major earthquake that struck in August of this year. In partnership with Peruvian Pastor Marius Peyre, Giving Children Hope shipped containers of relief aid and supplies to Pisco, Peru. Upon arrival, the distribution of aid served over 800 children and families devastated by the quake.
Giving Children Hope’s disaster relief program has delivered aid to devastated communities following Hurricane Katrina, the Tsunami in Indonesia, the wildfires in Southern California, and the Cyclone in Bangladesh. Giving Children Hope also runs healthcare and economic development programs, often times helping to rebuild communities first tended to in response to a major disaster.
“Giving Children Hope received such an amazing amount of community support when we kicked off our Peru Quake Relief Effort in August,†said Ashley Stinson, Communications and Development Coordinator with Giving Children Hope. “We have great partners on the ground in Peru, which enables us to send more and more shipments to support children and families in the region. This shipment is very special, as it is helping to equip an orphanage in Cusco.â€
