Giving Children Hope responds to the Tropical Storm Noel with humanitarian aid
BUENA PARK, CA (November 7, 2007)- Giving Children Hope (GCH) has partnered with International Youth Initiative (IYI) to responsd to the devestating Tropical Storm Noel. Orange County resident, Keith King, flew to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, last week to join his IYI team working on community projects. A devastating tropical storm hit the island and they are now helping in ways they never anticipated.

“It’s overwhelming, let me put it this way, I’m swimming more than I’m walking,” said IYI president. “There is no help. We’re on our own.” He is there with a group of four Dominican IYI staff members with more leaving this evening. The team traveling tonight gathered medical supplies from Giving Children Hope’s Distribution Center in Buena Park to distribute to those in the affected region.

Giving Children Hope is working with IVI to send a 40 foot container from their Distribution Center in Buena Park filled with 20 tons of much needed humanitarian aid by next week. This major disaster comes at a time when Giving Children Hope has been busy providing emergency aid to those affected by the wildfires in Southern California with an additional shipment scheduled for this Friday to the Running Springs area. It is yet to be determined which day next week the container will leave for the Dominican Republic.

Founded in 1993 Giving Children Hope/Global Operations and Development is an Orange County, California faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty (domestically and abroad) through emergency disaster relief, health and community development, vocational training and advocacy.
