GCH Sends Aid to Hospital in Jamaica

GCH Sends Aid to Hospital in Jamaica

Giving Children Hope, in partnership with Board Members Eileen and Don Anderson, has sent a shipment of humanitarian aid to Annotto Bay Regional Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica.

The container was filled with refurbished medical equipment and other aid, including backpacks filled with school supplies for the children in that region.

Funds toward this container were matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Earlier this year, GCH and the Andersons shipped out $400,000 worth of pharmaceuticals to the same hospital. That shipment was part of Giving Children Hope’s new pharmaceutical program, where GCH partners with other organizations, churches, and indigenous persons to deliver shipments of pharmaceuticals to clinics and hospitals in developing countries.

Originally built in 1860 as a public infirmary, the Annotto Bay Hospital expanded rapidly to provide out-patient services the many communities of North-East St Mary. Annotto Bay Hospital today handles approximately 14,661 out-patient visits annually, including emergency services.
