The bakery in Indonesia, “California Bakery”, is part of an effort to stimulate and rebuild the local community that is still recovering from the 2005 tsunami. The bakery is a micro-enterprise project that produces bread and pastries for the local community and provides locals with a source of employment and revenue for the area.
Giving Children Hope provided “California Bakery” with the equipment necessary to begin work, including ovens, mixers, baking pans, and cooking materials. The bakery is located on a street that was fully submerged by the tsunami.
