On Tuesday, August 21st, volunteers and local businesses alike turned out to do their part in Giving Children Hope’s Peru Earthquake Relief Effort.
Volunteers arrived early in the morning and stayed late into the afternoon working diligently to sort hygiene items, pack them into kits, and get them ready for transport. King Taco Restaurant in Los Angeles donated a pallet of rice and beans that will serve to feed many who have little to eat in the midst of devastation. Medasend in Long Beach donated eleven pallets of medical supplies to be included in Tuesday’s shipment and notified us this afternoon that more pallets of supplies are on their way to Giving Children Hope’s distribution center.
Leah Phan, owner of Chibi Children’s Wear
Leah Phan, owner of Chibi Children’s Wear, arrived on Tuesday with her two children, touched by the Eyewitness News Report she read on Channel 7’s website and compelled to give. Leah donated a box of new children’s clothing, including a pair of socks that her two-year-old daughter specifically wanted to give to children in Peru. When asked why she wanted to give the socks, she replied, “Because children in Peru need clothes.”
Channel 4 News, Channel 7 Eyewitness News, and Channel 3 This Week In Garden Grove were all on hand to document the community support.
The day was full of energy, excitement, and a sincere desire to work hard for the chance to instill hope in the many that may have little in the wake of this disaster.
