  • 2012.01.31 – Help Send Dental Care to Communities in Need

Almost three years ago, Giving Children Hope partnered with San Francisco Rescue Mission Health and Wellness Center, City Impact, and the Tenderloin District to bring computers and educational tools to the San Francisco City Academy.

The San Francisco Rescue Mission Health and Wellness Center is now focusing on expanding services to provide dental care to communities in need. Dental care is the most requested service listed in the San Francisco Rescue Mission neighborhood and referrals are routinely given in the Health and Wellness Center for dental-related needs.

To help meet these needs, Giving Children Hope is partnering with City Impact to provide a dental chair, dental unit and x-ray machine, allowing City Impact and the San Francisco Rescue Mission Health and Wellness Center to begin dental services to thousands of individuals they see each year.

City Impact is a Christian based service organization located in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. Its mission is to provide the most needy and under-served residents within the most densely populated district of San Francisco.

The San Francisco Rescue Mission Health and Wellness Center, located inside the SF Rescue Mission, offers people of the Tenderloin the opportunity to receive free basic medical care and health education. They partner with local practicing doctors, nurses and university nursing students and faculty to staff the clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Student nurses work out of the Rescue Mission in the morning then partner with senior living facilities and SF City Academy to provide medical care to the elderly and students of the Tenderloin. In addition, they staff triage tents at local parks for walk ups, referrals and consultations. More than 2,200 people have used the Wellness Center services in the past year.

Please consider helping to fund the cost of the dental unit for the San Francisco Rescue Mission. Your sponsorship and partnership with this project will be provide additional care to thousands in need in San Francisco.
