Th National Hospital of Tindouf, Algeria provides medical assistance and relief to Western Sahara refugees that were displaced by war and are now living in Tindoug, Algeria at Saharawi refugee camps. This war torn displaced community of 175,000 is compromised of women, children and the elderly. Because they have been displaced for 34 years, medical clinics or hospitals have been established in each of the three camps. However, they do not have an adequate amount of pharmaceuticals.
The hospital provides general medicine, surgery for eyes, ears, throat, kidney prostrate and gynecology services. The three most prevalent ailments treated at the hospital include diarrhea, dysentery and dental problems.
